Review on Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser

Hi Everyone!

Long time no see! I hope you are doing well! Study hard for your finals!

Today I am reviewing the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser Primer

This product costs about $7-10 and contains 22mL of product. It can be found at any drugstore, at Ulta, or online.

What do I think of this product?
So I actually bought this in December of 2013 in Japan. This was because this product (which has been around in Asian for a while) was not yet released in the US!
If you know me, I don't wear foundation or concealer often, maybe around a few times a month. So for me to review a makeup face product, it will take some time.
I tried the tester on in stores (in Japan, everything has a tester, even for drugstore makeup) and it made all of the fine lines and pores on my back of my hand disappear! It was pretty amazing! It also gave the skin a more even complexion, almost like a blurring effect.
I bought it and started to use it when I returned to the states.
I use this as a primer after I put on moisturizer and sunscreen but before using foundation and/or concealer. This product did not irritate or redden my skin.
The texture was very interesting. It is a very very smooth texture, almost slippery and to the point where it could be considered greasy or oily. It definitely contains silicon which gives it that super slick texture. It does not feel sticky but during application it feels very smooth and oil-like. This texture can bother some people. I understand that some people just don't feel comfortable with the feeling of rubbing something very grease-like on their skin and walking with it around all day.
As a foundation primer, I do not mind. It does not make my skin look oily or shiny after application and, after putting on foundation, the primer underneath the foundation does not give me an oily or shiny appearance. When I touch my skin (and this is after using foundation on top) it does not feel sticky, oily, or heavy to me at all.
The pore erasing effects were not as significant as they were on the back of my hand sadly. =( It did make my skin look a little smoother and my pores more blurred, but I could still see them (after only applying the primer and nothing else on top yet). It does help smooth out my skin and fine lines and prepare a smooth canvas for foundation application though.
As a primer I think that it does make my foundation last longer and prevent it from sliding and melting off. It lasts decently well. Without a setting powder, this primer alone gives my foundation a matte appearance for about 6 hours and then my skin (with primer and foundation on) will start having a shiny appearance. For a drugstore makeup I think that's not bad. On long hot days I will use a powder to set my foundation to help prevent shine.
Because I do not use this product often I cannot say whether frequent use will cause breakouts or not. So I'm sorry. =/
As an everyday foundation primer, I think that this product is decent. It is not amazing or very good, but I think for normal days it does a good enough job. I think if I wanted an everyday primer, I would try to use a less expensive one that works well enough so I won't kill my wallet. =P And I feel that this primer does just that. Granted, I don't use primer and foundation often enough to use this everyday or even often, but I would use this on a casual outing with friends or relatives. I would probably use better (and more likely more expensive)  products for special events like a date, wedding, etc.

Do I recommend this product?
If you want to try something affordable for fun as an everyday foundation primer, I think this will work. However, if you do not like products that are very very smooth and oily to the touch, then this product may not be for you.
I personally would not consider this a "must have" product or something I need. I would probably not buy this product and invest in something else once I am finished with it.

So I hope this review was helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions or comments in the comment box below. Thank you for reading and I will see you later! =)

Review on Smashbox Hydrating Photo Finish Primer

Hi Everyone!

I"m sorry I haven't been posting as often lately! X( I've bought a lot of products but I'm still using them and working on them before I feel confident enough to give a good review, so sorry. They'll be out soon!

Today I will be reviewing the Smashbox Hydrating Photo Finish Primer!

I have bought a travel size version of it at Sephora for I think $17 and the travel size contains 0.4 fluid oz or 12 mL of product.

What do I think of this product?
So, I have combination skin and the dry areas of my skin can get pretty dry and flaky. And I really wanted to try this primer but at the time, they didn't have travel size ones that were cheaper. So I finally bought it about a month ago and tried it. I really like this primer, it is very hydrating and my makeup lasts on all day without melting, smearing, or smudging. The consistency of the primer is light and smooth, it does not feel heavy, sticky, or oily. I like to put this on after I use my moisturizer and it does a great job of hydrating my skin and locking in the moisture! Also, a little goes a long way! You don't need a lot for your face. A pea size amount is enough for my entire face, and another pea size amount is good for my neck! It does not irritate my sensitive skin. I have worn this in 90 degree weather, when it is super hot and muggy and I feel like my makeup is going to sweat off, but it amazingly doesn't and stays perfect! =D
The only problem I have with this primer is that when I first apply it, it smells like paint. =( I don't like my makeup having any fragrance, especially chemically paint smells. However, the smell does not hurt my nose or eyes. It does go away in a few minutes and I can't and no one else can smell it on me. But if they came out with a new formula of this primer without such a smell, I would definitely buy it and choose it over this one!

Do I recommend this product?
If you don't mind the smell and the price, then I recommend this primer to anyone with normal to dry skin! This is especially great during winter when the air gets windy and dry and tends to dry our skin out! You don't need a lot of product, so I would recommend the travel-size version actually (unless you put on foundation every single day). This is a great all day foundation primer that will keep your foundation lasting all day and you looking radiant and beautiful!
I know this can be a pricey product for some, but I think it is worth it to invest more into something that directly touches your skin. A good primer not only keeps makeup lasting longer but also forms a good barrier between your skin and the makeup so your pores won't be clogged or irritated by makeup!
And if you try and don't like it, as long as you have the receipt, you can return it to any Sephora store. =)

So I hope you enjoyed this review and it helped you! Thank you for reading and if you have any questions or comments, feel free to write in the comment box below =).
Thanks and we shall meet again!
