Outfit of the Day!!!! XD

Hi Everyone!

Today I went shopping and decided to show you what I was wearing when I went shopping and what I wore afterwards.

I am wearing a long sleeve cold-shoulder top with abercrombie kids shorts. Yes, abercrombie kids XP,  I only bought them because they were cheaper than Abercrombie. =P

When I was shopping, I saw this cute hat at Charlotte Russe.

And then omg, the Nine West shoes!!!! O_O!!!!
I actually tried on those shoes at a Nine West store in LA 1-2 weeks ago and unfortunately, they fit well  around my toes but the straps were very loose near my ankle, which made me sad. T_T
I saw them on sale in San Diego (original price $89) for $59 and I decided to try them on, expecting them to have the same fit problem. But to my surprise they fit much better! =D They are still a little loose around my ankle, but that's so the wedges can give when I walk.
I was sooo happy and I bought them! XD

These shoes are wedges and even though they look rather tall, they are very comfortable and sturdy. I don't feel wobbly when walking around in them and they look beautiful!!!! haha

Anyway, please enjoy the video!

Notice how I pair the black color of my purse with the black ribbon on my hat and the black straps of my wedges.
Also, the color of my shorts, heels of my wedges, and of my hat all have almost the same color.
And finally, the texture of my hat and my wedges are similar as well.

Matching and complementing parts of your outfit, is a very easy way to have a good complete look without too many crazy things going on. Therefore, it looks clean and well put together. ^_^

Thank you for watching this video. I hope you liked it and I will see you later! Have a great rest of the weekend!

Review on Milani Liquid Eyes pencil eyeliner

Hi everybody!

I finished my finals yesterday! Yay! Spring Break!!!

So today I am reviewing the Milani Liquid Eye liquid like eyeliner pencil
This product costs around $7, you can easily find it online, at many drugstores and department stores. It may be a little difficult to get only because it is so affordable and popular that it is often sold out.
This is what it looks like when you buy it.

What do I think of this product?
I have wanted to try this eyeliner for months actually. Hollyannaeree on her YouTube channel, raves about this eyeliner and uses it all the time!
It took me a super long time get my hands on this eyeliner because everywhere I went it was sold out. T_T. And I didn't want to buy it online and pay for the $6 shipping because to me, the liner would cost $13, which is not money saving when shopping for makeup. =P
So last month, I finally saw this at a Walgreens I think and I got it!
This pencil eyeliner has a very very creamy and soft formula. It's not oily or thick and it glides on smoothly and beautifully! The color is also very black and pigmented! Because it is so soft, it might be hard to draw a thin line, but what you can do is get a small brush or an eyeliner brush, apply some product onto the brush, and use the brush to draw a thin line for your eyeliner.
However, sadly this eyeliner does not work for me. =( This is probably because my eyelids are rather oily....>.> and easily causes smudging for creamy products. I have tried using this eyeliner in a variety of ways such as:
- on my tightline, lashline, and a thin eyeliner line
- on my tightline, lashine, and then a liquid liner on top
- only on my tightline
and the list continues, but one way or another it smudges. =/

I have found out however, that if I just swatch it on the back of my hand. It dries quickly and does not smudge much when I rub it. However, this might be because my hand is not oily but my eyelids are. Also, I have a small eyelid fold (or small double eyelid) so it is easy for the eyeliner to smudge to the top of my eyelids when the skin folds over.

Here are a couple swatches:
This is a swatch before rubbing it. As you can see the color is very black.

After a moment, I rubbed the eyeliner. And I rubbed it pretty roughly. As you can see it doesn't smudge that much for such a creamy formula. Pretty good.

Do I recommend this product?
If your eyelids are not oily, then I think this a good product to try! However, if you do have oily eyelids and/or if you have a small eyelid fold, I do not recommend this eyeliner because it may have a tendency to smudge. It is affordable, and sold in a variety of places.

So I hope you liked this review and it was helpful. For the people done with finals, congratz! And for those of you who have yet to be done, good luck! Thank you for reading and I will see you soon!

Review on Benefit Foundation Play Stick

Hi Everyone!

For those of you in southern California, did you feel the earthquake?! Haha, it happened a little before 10am, so if you weren't up, then you didn't feel it. I was in my lab office and it shook a little. =P

Anyway, today I am reviewing the Benefit "Play Sticks" Foundation Stick
This product costs $36. I bought it 2 years ago so it was around $32 for me. It contains 0.3 oz or 8.5 grams of product and can be found at Ulta, Sephora, or online.
It is supposed to be a cream to powder foundation stick that helps promote a healthy complexion while giving natural-looking coverage with a satin-matte finish.

What do I think of this product?
Even though I've had this foundation stick for a long time (2 years!), I rarely use it because I just don't use foundation that often. Also, I have a couple problems with this foundation, which is why I do not use it at all now. However, I think it's past due for a review! XD

This foundation does not irritate or redden my sensitive skin. I have the color "Spin the Bottle" which is too light for my face currently, and I would probably go for "Paper Doll" if I had to buy it again. It does have a fragrance, like an old-fashion perfume smell, which I would be happier without. But it isn't too strong and does not irritate my skin or eyes, so it's okay. I would say that this foundation gives light to medium coverage. The color is quite strong and pigmented so I do not build up or apply more than one layer of foundation.
I believe there are currently only 4 colors in stock and the color "Jax" is not available anymore. The majority of these colors are on the lighter side with a warm undertone. Therefore, if you have a cool undertone or darker skin color, this is probably not the right foundation for you.
This is a cream stick foundation. Even though it is a cream formula it does not feel or look heavy or thick during application. The texture is emollient and easily slides across the skin making it easy to apply and blend. Because it is so emollient, it may feel a little sticky during application but it will definitely not feel greasy or give you a shiny oily appearance. After that it quickly dries to a powder finish.
However, the big problem with this foundation for me is that it tends to over dry or become more powdery on patches on my face in the cheek area. It is supposed to dry to a powder finish giving a satin look however, it looks partially or randomly dried on my face. This makes ugly dry patches of powdery foundation on my face. On the the rest of the face, it does dry to a powder finish gives a satin finish. However, that doesn't solve the problems of dry foundation patches on my skin. =/
Another problem is that even though this covers up spots, redness, and blemishes on my skin, it makes my little pimple bumps stand out even more. Basically, it will even out my skin tone and complexion but all the bumps on my face become suddenly easier to see and are more pronounced. I am not sure why this happens, but it makes my acne look worse than it really is. =(

I have read many reviews on this foundation stick and it seems to work pretty well for most people. Perhaps it is because of my combination skin that this foundation dries in patches on my cheeks, but I really don't know. Though one of my best friends also has the same problems as me when using this foundation and she is Asian too...so...maybe it doesn't work for Asian skin as well? Don't know. Not great evidence from just 2 people's stories. But it's just a thought. =P

Anyway, because of these issues I have with this foundation I would not buy it again and I also don't use it anymore. I do somewhat regret buying something pricy that I won't use, however, I bought this when I was just starting to learn about makeup and this was recommended to me by someone working at Ulta. I just took her word for it without doing any research or trying it out, so my fault in the end. =P

Here are a few swatches of the foundation:

I know that the foundation looks really yellow on my arm and hands, but in reality, my face is more yellow and has a yellow undertone and my arms and hands have a pink undertone.

There is a blended swatch on the upper forearm area and a swatch on the lower arm area.

There is a blended swatch on the left side of my hand and a normal swatch on the right side of my hand.

Do I recommend this product?
Hmm...from my personal experience I do not recommend this product. However, you are free to go to Ulta or Sephora and try it out in stores before making your final decision. Maybe this product may work better for you if you do not have combination skin and if your skin is oily.
It can be expensive for foundation, but as long as it works for your skin and does not harm it, I would say go for it. Because this is your skin we're talking about! I make sure to buy good quality concealers and foundations because they directly touch my skin and I do not want bad side effects.

So I hope this review helped you! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to write in the comment box below. Thank you for reading and I will talk to you later! =)

Oh yeah, finals are next week for me, so I will be MIA for a bit, but when they're over, it is spring break! And I will have a lot of time to post reviews, videos, etc. =D

Review on Benefit "they're Real!" Mascara!

Hi everyone!

I could have sworn that I reviewed this product already because I have been using this for over 3 months and I was mentally working on this review post for a long time, but I was so surprised that I didn't review this for you guys yet! XD

Anyway, today I am reviewing on Benefit's "they're Real!" Mascara!

This product has a mini and a regular size. I bought the mini size a while ago just to try it out, but I don't remember the price I got it for =(, sorry.
The regular size costs $23 and contains 0.3 oz of product. The mini size contains 0.14 oz. or 4.0 grams of product.
You can buy this mascara online or in-stores at Sephora, Ulta, or Amazon.
This mascara is supposed to lengthen, volumize, lift, curl & separate your eyelashes. They say it is a long-wearing formula that won't smudge or dry out.

What do I think of this product?
The formula of this mascara is not too runny and not too thick and dry. I would say, the formula texture is in the middle. It also does not irritate my eyes.
So, I usually don't like mascaras, because I tend to blink a lot which causes smudging on my lower lashline at the end of the day, even if they are waterproof. However, I think this mascara does a pretty good job of not smudging too much. For most of the day I remain smudge-free! It's only at the end of the day when I do get a bit of smudging at the outer corners of my eyes, but that is manageable. It does not run down my eyes and does not flake.
But what I really like about this mascara is that it has a rubber wand, which has the ability to separate lashes during application. I really hate it when my lashes stick and get clumped together because of the mascara. Personally I think clumped lashes look really ugly and unnatural. The rubber wand does a beautiful job of coating all of lashes and separating them well in the processes.
This mascara does make my lashes longer and darker. However, I do no think it volumizes or curls my eyelashes much. Which I don't mind too much about since lengthening my lashes actually makes them visible for my short and sparse Asian eyelashes. haha =P The longer length really opens up my eyes and makes me look more awake! (and hopefully also to my professors in class lol)
Overall, I like this mascara. Smudging no matter how big or small will always bother me. I think it is because I have oily skin around my eyes, which makes it easier for mascara to smudge. Perhaps if I was wearing foundation with translucent powder under my eyes, or a face powder foundation, the powder would help prevent smudging on my lower lashline. Though, I have not tried this (because I do not wear foundation on a regular basis).

Do I recommend this product?
I do recommend this mascara if you are looking for a mascara that separates lashes and lengthens lashes well. But, as always, better to play safe and save money in one go! So, if you can get the mini version without too much trouble, I would try to go with that. Also, the mini version is quite cute and very portable!

So I hope you enjoyed this review! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to write in the comment box below! Thank you for reading. =)

Review on "My Beauty Diary" Winter Brightening Mask!

Hi Everyone!

It's March! Spring is here! yay! =D

Today I am reviewing the "My Beauty Diary" 2-Step Winter Bright Pack Olive Leaf Mask!
This product costs about $15-17. You can buy this online at Sasa or possibly at Amazon. Because I bought this 3 months ago, I forgot where I got it...Sorry X(. But the "My Beauty Diary" store or Maneki Neko stores in Los Angeles will probably have it.
This set of masks contains 8 masks paired with 8 moisturizing gels.
It is said to moisturize, brighten, and rejuvenate the skin from water loss.
Directions:
1) unfold mask and fit it onto your face
2) let it rest on your face for 20-30 min.
3) remove the mask and massage any remaining serum with your fingertips until it is absorbed
4) apply Shea Butter Creamy Gel onto face and don't rinse off

What do I think of this product?
I have used this serum and moisturizer set once a week for two months. The Olive Leaf Mask is a paper mask packed with serum. As with all "My Beauty Diary" masks they are durable, don't tear, and have a lot of product. The scent reminds me more of green tea than olives...don't know why haha =P. But the smell is not strong or sharp, and does not irritate my eyes or nose. The mask and serum do not irritate or redden my sensitive skin.
The mask does a wonderful job of moisturizing my skin and I feel soothed and refreshed after using it. It definitely helps re-hydrate my face, especially when winter can be colder and drier. Also, it improves my complexion and makes my face brighter! =)
After the mask I apply a generous layer of the Shea Butter Creamy Gel. The gel does not irritate or redden my sensitive skin.
The gel may be a little sticky to some people. It is not too thick but it may feel a little heavy or sticky during application and can give an oily appearance. I personally don't mind this, because I use this winter bright pack at night before I go to bed. So, no one sees me haha. Besides, I like to use the most out of the gel and let my skin absorb it overnight when I am asleep!
The Shea Butter Creamy Gel does have that classic shea butter smell. If you like shea butter, then great! If you don't like it, hmm, well, you may not like how this smells XP. It did smell a little strong to me at first, but it was not sharp or unpleasant so I got used to it quickly.
Just keep in mind that this gel is a very intense moisturizer. Don't worry, it won't clog your pores or cause acne. I have never had that problem. It is just a strong emollient moisturizer and is great for the dry parts of my combination skin.

Do I recommend this product?
Yes! I recommend this mask pack! This is great if you have dry skin or if you skin tends to get dry in the winter. It worked fine for my combination sensitive skin, so I don't think that there will be problems for most people.
If you are wondering if this mask pack is only supposed to be used during winter or for winter, don't worry about it. This is just a mask pack with stronger moisturizing properties than most, so that when winter comes, the dry cold air tends to dry out the skin more than normal. This mask is a remedy to winter skin problems, but if you have very dry skin, you probably don't have to only use this in winter, whenever you want is fine I'm sure. =P

So I hope you enjoyed this review! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to write in the comment box below. =) Thank you for reading and I will see you later!
